TAHOE AND RENO UPDATES

THE BONE MAN at Nextshooter is on the move and will be covering Reno and Tahoe casinosin August through October. He will be updating the Reno directoryinformation including table count, posted table odds, minimums and maximums, andthe payout on 2 and/or 12 on The Field. The Bone Man appreciates those of you whohave recently sent him information on remote gaming venues as this information shouldbe of value to fellow players who appreciate knowing posted table odds when planningtheir casino trips.

UPDATE: MINI-TABLES IN LAS VEGAS

This information is provided for those of you so-called “Setters” who like to roll’em on a mini-table or “tub.”

The two-man table at Circus-Circus has moved from the main pit into the west casino. There are three main casino areas at Circus-Circus: the Main, nearest Las VegasBoulevard, the West which is toward the back and registration desk, opposite thebuffet, and the Sky Rise, which since 9/11 is normally closed except for major holidays.

There is no longer a tub (“half-table”) at the Wildfire on Rancho opposite the TexasStation as they have closed down all table games and are running just slot machines.

MYSTERY AND CONTROVERSY: BINION’S HORSESHOE

Binion’s, once the great last bastion for real players a few years back, used tooffer 100X Free Odds and 13 tables. Now they’re downto seven. Yet, it is still an interesting center of mystery and controversy. Thetable game dealers down there have gone from table-for-table and back to splittingtokes (tips) twice in the past two years. Plus there was a major controversy withthe World Series of Poker dealers when The House took a big piece of the tip action. In addition there has been ongoing litigation regarding their back payments forBinion’s share of fees for The Fremont Experience sound and light show. A reliablesource told us recently that some of the swing shift craps dealers were hustlingcustomers so hard that they were making more toke money than the dealers who usedto work at the now-closed Desert Inn. Nevertheless, Binion’s is a place to see forserious players and is still the great bastion of craps… and a great steakhouseat The Top and one of the most interesting bars in Vegas right next to the crapspit.

ADVICE: WATCH AND LISTEN TO THE STICKMAN

Did you ever just stand at a craps table to watch and listen to the Stickman / Stickperson? This would indeed be a good exercise for all of you who insist on making PropositionBets. The Stickperson’s banter suggests all kinds of wagers that range in House-Takefrom around 9% to as much as almost 17%. Listen sometime to the banter and WATCHthe Stickperson keep handing in STACKS of White and Red gaming cheques into theHOUSE BANK.

CRAPS QUIZ

Here is the answer to the July quiz:

You have a $5 flat bet with $10 odds and you PLACE the 6 or 8 for $6. Your COMP ratefor average bet is…

Answer: There is no specific correct answer to the July Quiz. Many casinos projectthe “Comp.” rate based on ONLY the initial bet. “Comp.” rate is not always calculatedon the TOTAL of MULTIPLE BETS. But if you are a regular and a “Player Card” member, chances are your average bet will be projected HIGHER by the boxman, especiallyif you TOKE (tip) the dealers. The fact is that the casinos don’t want to PAY thedealers, they want you to pay them. “Comp.” rate in most casinos is based on theAVERAGE BET and the AMOUNT OF PLAYING TIME of an individual player.

August 2003 Quiz:
