Ten ways a craps dealer can spot a loser

  1. Player does not take Free Odds on his Pass Line bet afterestablishing a point, but makes a wager anywhere else on the table.
  2. Player makes a minimum wager on Pass Line or Don’t Pass Line, wins, and then makesanother minimum wager. (Grinder)
  3. Player makes a wager on Pass Line or Don’t Pass Line, loses, and then “Doubles Up”and continues to Double Up. (Martingale Betting System, an ancient loser)
  4. Player makes a wager on Pass Line and any proposition bet. (Thinks s/he’s”buying insurance”).
  5. Player makes a wager on The Big Red 7.
  6. Player wagers over $5 on the Corner 6 or 8 numbers.
  7. Player places a wager on Hardways 4 and/or 10.
  8. Player places a wager on the Pass Line after a point has already been established.Sometimes this is an accident as many hurried players make this wager without checkingthe Puck to see that a point has already been established. Good dealers will informthe player that he is wagering on a specific Point (a subtle way of telling themthat they are not making an intelligent wager).
  9. Player does not “Go Behind” or “Take” the Don’t 6 and/or 8.
  10. Proposition or Field player who plays on a table with Strip odds on the 2,3,11 and12 or Field where 2 and 12 both only pay 2 to 1.
  11. Player makes Place Bets but does not focus on the 6 and 8, the numbers with thesmallest house edge.
