BLACKJACK TRAVESTY

Many Vegas casinos are now paying only 6 to 5 on a blackjack instead of 3 to 2.This trend began about one year after 9/11 and is representative of belt-tighteningVegas-wide. In addition, most single deck games in the larger casinos have a highertable minimum than shoe games that are dealt face up.

REVELATION: THE DEALERS ARE ON *YOUR* SIDE

Many players play for years without coming to the realization that the dealers areon the player’s side. Certainly one could say that there is nothing worse than arude dealer, but conversely, there is nothing worse to a dealer than a rude playerwho just doesn’t get it. The fact of the matter is that the bulk of dealer incomecomes from player tips (tokes) and consequently a smart dealer will do everythingpossible to accommodate players. This includes providing players as much informationabout the complexities of the game as possible and providing maximum servicing whenplacing or positioning player wagers and patterns of wagers on the table layout. The next time you walk up to the craps table you might want to rethink your attitudeabout the real role, function and motivation of the dealers. CRAPS QUIZ

Here is the answer to the June quiz:

The lammer rack that is in the middle of the table and which rests above the housebank and below the boxman is used to keep track of player winnings.

Answer: FALSE. The lammer rack in the middle of the table and close to the boxmanis NOT used to keep track of player winnings. It is used to keep track of the DROP…the cash money that goes into the DROP BOX from player buy-ins. This is the waythat the Pit Management can see how much cash is being generated shift by shift.Near the end of each shift Pit Management will stop play and count the BANK andevaluate the Bank against the records kept by the BOXMAN who has used the lammerrack to tally the shift’s Drop.
