Craps Newsletter – June 2002

News and views from THE BONEMAN, a real Las Vegas craps dealer

The FIELD is a BETTER bet than Place Bets on the 4,5, 9 and/or 10 on MOST tables.

The answer to the May Voting Quiz proves how little most players, so-called Internet”craps gurus”, and even DEALERS know about the game of craps as nearly 63% of yougot the answer WRONG!

As most craps tabes post The Field wager with the 2 OR 12 paying TRIPLE and theother paying DOUBLE, the House Take on these tables is only 2.77%. This 2.77% isa BETTER bet than Place Bets on the 4,5,9 and/or 10.

The House Take on the 5 and/or 9 Place Bet is at 4%. House Take on the 4 and/or10 is either 6.67% (Placed) OR 4.67% even on a “BUY” bet. From the Dealer side ofthe table this makes players like you who go 15, 26,27,52,54 (etc.) dollars “across”ALL the Place Bet Numbers (usually after establishing a POINT on THE PASS LINE)look silly.

The answer to this question does not constitute a recommendation for players tobet The Field as there are still many other BETTER wagers, such as the Free Odds bet. If you voted WRONG you should definitely read up on this!

Don’t miss the poll for the month of June:

On a $2,000 table limit, with 2X Odds, the most you can “Lay” on the “DonÃt Side”is:

  • $1,000
  • $2,000
  • $4,000

DICE SETTING

As a craps dealer, watching the game from The House side of the table, most of mydealer and box-person associates are very skeptical about player ability to controlthe dice. As a dealer myself, when seeing specific players pre-setting the dice,if I am on STICK I always pre-set the dice to the players preference when sendingthem out. I do this for two reasons. First to speed up the game, so that the playerhas his/her dice pre-set and secondly because I figure if the player is going toget a good roll going they are going to tip us more. Lately, my associate dealersare also doing this because, in a strange way, this adds fun and enjoyment to dealingthe game. As author of Nextshooter I keep an open mind to Dice-Setters. As far asI am concerned if a player is a “Nolan Ryan” shooter, more power to him. ConsequentlyI am referring information in this June Newsletter to a special program now beingput together by DiceSetter.com.

ON ANOTHER NOTE

The Bone Man is pleased to announce that his new co-production of the book “INFIDEL:An Open Letter to Terrorists of The World” is about to be published by Xulon Pressand should be available in bookstores within the next month and a half. Accordingto The Bone Man, “INFIDEL puts to shame the oceans of useless rhetoric about theMiddle East that proliferates in everyday media.” What does this have to do withgambling? Absolutely nothing… it is more important.
